28 May 2010. Hundreds of worshippers are gathered to attend the Friday Prayers at Darul Zikr and Baitul Nur – two mosques belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Lahore, Pakistan.

As the Imams deliver their speeches, masked gunmen force their way inside in simultaneous attacks on the two mosques. They start firing indiscriminately, lobbing grenades into the packed congregations. One of the terrorists runs towards a busy area, and blows himself up. A bloodbath ensues.

86 Ahmadis would depart this world on that day. But they leave behind stories of unbelievable bravery and selflessness that will live on forever – two teenagers grapple a terrorist wearing a suicide jacket, dying men being brought water, only to pass it to those nearby; a 65 year old man runs into a spray of bullets to save those behind him – fearless in death, and role models in life – the 86 martyrs were unique individuals – loving husbands, exceptional fathers, and caring sons –– as families, friends and neighbours would all testify.

This book consists of seven Friday Sermons and the concluding session of Jalsa Salana (Annual Gathering) Germany 2010, delivered by Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim community, who praises the faith-inspiring lives of each of the martyrs of Lahore, and recounts the horrific events that transpires on that fateful day.
