At a time of great loss, he treated her with compassion and respect. Touched by his noble character, she embraced Islam and later married him. Despite the hostilities between Muslims and Jews of the time, the Holy Prophet (sa) always encouraged her to be proud of her Jewish heritage, and to uphold good relations with her Jewish relatives.
